The leaders of the two major anti-European parties, the French Marine Le Pen, far-right National Front and the British – Nigel Farage – UKIP – populist both with 24 seats, melee for the support of Europhobes and Eurosceptic parties that make up the new European Parliament in order to achieve own group. Both Gallic nationalist extremists like the British are, by far, far away from their ultimate goal for requiring the approval of parties that exceeds a total of 25 MEPs and above all – and here comes the problem for them – which they are established in at least seven Member States. The advantage of being able to form own group is clear: there would be more funding and a powerful speaker to get their messages transcend the arid communal political arena.

The resulting EP elections last Sunday can receive any adjective less than governable. The rise of the opposing parties in Europe is glaring, but on the total weight of the Parliament is not enough to jeopardize the adoption of important decisions. The sum of the National Front, UKIP and other radical parties  even reaches 13 % of the newly elected Chamber and only reaches the fifth Parliament if included in the same bag with ECR- Eurosceptic British Conservatives Forza Italia and the forehead, which do have own group and do not seem very keen to coalesce with the ultras games.

The internal struggle is waged on two fronts and both UKIP goes, at the moment, winning by a margin so narrow that he would not allow his ultimate goal of forming own group. Parliamentary sources, suggest that Le Pen would have secured the support of the Belgian Vlaams Belang xenophobic party (one seat), the Freedom Party of Dutch Wilders (four), the Austrian FPÖ (four) and the five MEPs of the Italian Northern League, so support of two more groups is still needed to meet the requirement of national diversity required by the regulation of the European Parliament.

Decanted with the balance slightly in favor of the British nationalists, if Le Pen does not increase its level of parliamentary support.

Both strive to avoid this situation at all costs; would be dangerous to their image. Calculator in hand, teams of Le Pen and Farage try to hasten the time to achieve the number in their favor.
