Pakistan army has launched operation against the militants in the North Waziristan area. Most political parties have supported the government’s decision to conduct the military operations after the brutal attack on Karachi airport carried out by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Uzbek national in which 39 people died. Pakitan Tehreek-e-Insaf and some of the religious parties are reluctant to stand behind the army on the operation against terrorists.

PTI spokesperson Shireen Mazari tweeted on twitter, “Shameful how PM failed to take political ldrship into confidence abt NWA Op. PTI emergency CC mtg 2morrow. Will give r detailed position.”

Imran Khan’s party PTI has still to decide on the issue. PTI is ruling party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province.

Sirajul Haq, emir of Jamat-e-Islami which is also part of government in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, claimed that  the government was not sincere with talks from the beginning.  This is what the Taliban also claim. Emir Jamat-e-Islami said, “The government should have consulted the country’s political leadership and the KP government before launching the operation.”

His party will help the people affected by the operation jointly with Al-Khidmat Foundation. However, there is no action on the KP government part to assist the displaced persons during the level. JI Professor Ibrahim told reporters that  terrorists will manage to escape from North Waziristan while innocent people will be targeted in the operation.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl spokesperson Jan Achakzai said , “Unless a clear decision is taken on the strategic, ideological, political and foreign policy levels and those decisions are backed by concrete steps, we will see more of the same.”

Achakzai further added, “Rather than focusing on a particular group of militants, the government must work to restore the writ of the state in very corner of the country.”

More than 100 militants have been killed during the ground and air strikes against the hideouts in North Waziristan since the launch of operation on Sunday.
