Nawaz government to call army under article 245

It has been reported by the Express Tribune that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided in a meeting on Friday to invoke article 245 of the Pakistan constitution to deploy army personals in the cities to assist the civil administration.

The article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan authorizes the civil administration to call army personals to assist in the civil administration matters.

The validity of the decision by the Federal government to invoke article 245 cannot be challenged in any court of the country.

Furthermore, superior Court may not exercise any jurisdiction  in relation to any area in which the Armed Forces of Pakistan are acting in aid of civil power in pursuance of Article 245.

The decision to invoke article 245 was made in a high level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday after discussing the situation in the country in the light of the operation Zarab-e-Azb in North Wazirsitan. The meeting was attended by Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and a number of federal ministers.
