Najam Sethi removed from post of chairman PCB

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has sacked chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi from his position as interim executive committee has been asked to stop working. According to media reports Najam Sethi will serve as the member of the governing board.

Supreme Court bech headed by Justice Saqib Nisar  was hearing the case for the appointment of chairman PCB. The Attorney General, Salman Aslam Butt, told the court that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stopped  Najam Sethi to work as chairman PCB. The Attorney General told the court that  Prime Minster has constituted a new interim governing board headed by to hold PCB chairman elections within 30 days. Najam Sethi will serve as the member of the interim governing board.

The Attorney General told the court that Justice (Retd) Jamshed Ali Shah will also be the Election Commissioner, while assume responsibility as PCB chairman to look after its affairs.

The Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt had assured the Supreme Court on the previous hearing that government will appoint the Election commissioner to conduct the PCB elections by Thursday.

It is believed that Najam Sethi will run for the election of PCB chairman, however, it is not clear if he would continue to serve as the member of the interim governing board.
