Umar Akmal has filed a suit against Lahore traffic police warden on Tuesday July 15, 2014 for humiliating ‘national hero’ by trying to arrest him for violation of traffic rules. Pakistani cricketer also claimed that police used its influence to get written apology from his father while he was abroad.

Umar Akmal lodged the application against the police warden, Zeeshan, in the Lahore session court alleging that Zeeshan assaulted him first. He further claimed that police warden humiliated me ‘a national hero’ by attempting to arrest me. He has demanded an action against the police warden in the law suit.

Umar Akmal was stopped by the traffic police warden on February 1 in Lahore near the Firdous market when he did not stop at the red traffic light. Akmal was detained by the police after brawl and was released next day on the surety bod of PKR100,000.

Akmal’s father submitted the written apology on his son’s behalf while he was outside the country playing cricket.  Umar Akmal claimed that his father was forced to tender the written apology.

The session court has summoned the case record from the Gulberg Police Station on September 16.
