Canada changing immigration rules for foreign workers in 2015

Citizenship and Immigration Canada is introducing a new Express Entry electronic application management system in January 2015 in a bid to reduce the backlog and match the newly arriving permanent residents with jobs already secured. Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander met with business leaders and other stakeholders to discuss the new Express Entry system this Tuesday July 14, 2015. The processing time for qualifying Canadian permanent residence applications is expected to reduce to six months.

Chris Alexander said, “Our government is reforming Canada’s economic immigration system to make it faster, fairer and more flexible to ensure that Canada’s labour market needs are met.”

“Express Entry will connect candidates for permanent residence with employers who have been unable to find skilled Canadians or permanent residents for the job, and bring them here quickly,” Immigration Minister further added.

The Express Entry electronic application management system will be used for processing of the applications under Federal Skilled worker class, Canadian Experience Class, Skilled trades Class and some of the Provincial Nominee Programs.

The foreign professionals submitting applications through the Express Entry will be kept in a pool which has the access to the Canadian employers. Once the foreign professional is matched with a job profile, Canadian employer will offer the employment.  Job offers will be subject to Employment and Social Development Canada’s Labour Market Impact Assessment in place at that time.

The foreign nationals who received qualifying job offer will be asked to apply for Canadian immigration. Express Entry will allow Citizenship and Immigration Canada to select the candidates who are most likely to succeed economically in Canada, rather than passively process all applicants in a queue.

The existing application process will end in December this year and then all the applications for permanent residence under economic class will be processed using the Express Entry system.

Immigration Consultant, Ahmed Naveed, advises the foreign professionals to take advantage of the existing program and submit the applications for Canadian permanent residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Class as soon as possible.

    Hi!

I am from Philippines and currently working here in Bahrain. I have an application since last april 2013 and everything is well done. Last month it is supposed to release for stamping the visa in my passport but they hold because canada immigration changed the rules. The new rules said that i can enter Canada to work but after two years due to end of contract there is no renewal and i need to exit Canada and not allow to return back again in Canada. Means it s one time entry only for the new rules they impliment. But still depend on me if i wnt to take a risk. Is it true? That’s why i decided to wait til the rules changed and now federal skilled workers can apply as express entry effective on jan 2015. It is possible to update my application for federal skilled workers?

Thanks and i hope i can receive a little advise.
