There are reports of missile strike by a United States drone on a compound in Doga Madakhel village of Dattakhel Tehsil, around 36 km west of North Waziristan’s capital Miramshah early Saturday morning July 19, 2014. At least 8 suspected militants belonging to Punjabi Taliban faction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban were killed in the missile strike.
This is the third US drone strike in the region after the launch of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the North Waziristan to wipe out the Taliban militants from the tribal region.
It is reported that the suspected militants who died in the drone attack were from Punjab and part of the Punjabi Taliban faction of the militant group. However, the identities of the targeted militants could not verified.
Pakistan condemns such drone strikes in the area as it is violation of the sovereignty of the country. Many believe that US drone strikes are only helping Taliban militants to recruit more militants in the name of taking the revenge.
Almost 60 suspected militants have died during the past US drone missile attacks in this year after the Pakistan Armed forces started the operation against the militants in North Waziristan tribal region.
