“We will not launch rockets, even stones. We wish to begin to transform Palestinian politics from the base and really fighting for our rights. Gaza today is the most urgent challenge. ” Majed Bamya Speaks committee member of 48ThousandMarch, one of the organizations in these 22 -day Israeli offensive on Gaza, convened frequent protests throughout the West Bank, a cry that mixes anger and fatigue to a status quo that no longer support more. Most of the participants are young restless without political affiliation, but have managed to add medium, nationalist and Islamist parties, all with the same purpose: to claim Palestinian unity and show that territorial separation does not dilute the common causes. ” One nation, one people, one dream ” is its motto.

The voice asleep in a land that suffers, but does not have the limitations of their brothers in Gaza, where the routine of survival times crushes dissent, has awakened. Only on Monday, 45,000 Palestinians were concentrated around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on the first day of Eid, after the end of Ramadan, mixing faith with political proclamations in which, in an unknown fact called resistance: in the holy city, slogans for Hamas, the muqawama were chanted.

Violence is dominating the major protests. According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs United Nations, 11 Palestinians have been killed since July 23 in the West Bank, all from gunshot wounds, and 600 wounded in clashes with police and the army of Israel while manifested; one of the fatalities was a settler who shot, south of Nablus. It has not yet been arrested.

Another great concentration was experienced last Thursday when 30,000 people, according to the Palestinian police, marched from the refugee camp of Al Amari at Qalandia, to control that separates Jerusalem. Mobilization and not seen in the West Bank since 2005.

The arrests of Palestinians have also soared, especially in East Jerusalem, where since the assassination of Abu Mohamed lower Jadair fanatical nationalists at the hands of Jews, and the police have arrested 375, whereas 78 in the last five days. In the city, also have been reported beatings of three groups of young Jews to Arabs who have raised suspicion on the streets.

Political analyst Ahmad Rafiq Awad, member of the Al Quds University, acknowledges that past operations in the West Bank had been remarkably calm before the bombing. What has changed in 2014, says, “is that pride has been infected by the resistance of Hamas ” when pure Palestinian government has given political means ” the coveted fruit “, ” when the disappointment weighs frustrated by the recently peace process [ broken in late April after nine months of negotiations ]. ” ” As early as 2013 there were protests in the heat of the Arab Spring, claiming the indissoluble union of the West Bank and Gaza, and the organizing principle then reached between student and NGO groups now works again in the heat of an Executive Unit that excited, but little progress is seen in practice, ” the analyst abounds.

Meanwhile, Majed Bamya further adds that the “breath ” of the two most respected prisoners, Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Saadat, with its enormous prestige in social networks and their influence on prisoners ‘ associations, has helped fill the streets. Thanks to its appeal were summoned calls to prayers of several thousand people.
