Corps Commanders meeting scheduled for August 11

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) spokesperson has said in a statement that Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, has summoned corps commanders conference on Monday in Rawalpindi to discuss the security situation and Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

General Raheel Sharif will take into confidence the Corps commanders regarding the security situation after meeting with political leadership during the Security conference.

The timing of the corps commanders meeting in the context of the announced protest rallies by Imran Khan and Dr. Tahirul Qadri will be very important. Imran Khan is protesting rigging in 2013 and wants new elections in the country. Dr. Qadri on the other hand wants revolution in the country and believes elections are not the solution to the country’s problem.

Imran Khan demands for new elections are based on his beleif that his party can win in elections. However, Qadri is ‘leading’ revolution as his party is not in a position to win in elections.
