Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Usman has imposed section 144 banning the coverage of rallies using the drone cameras in Lahore citing security situation this Monday August 11, 2014.  The ban will remain effective for one month.

Lahore district authorities have said in statement that ban on the media coverage of the rallies using drone cameras was imposed on the instructions of the Ministry of Interior Affairs to avoid the use of the technology by terrorists.

Authorities have warned that such devices would be shot down if violated the restrictions under the section 144 which is effective with immediate effect.

Under the section 144, gathering of five or more persons is also prohibited. It is not clear how the Lahore administration intends to deal with the supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek who are already gathered in Lahore in preparation for the ‘revolution march’ on August 14.
