Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said in a televised speech on Tuesday August 12, 2014 that he is requesting the Chief Justice of Supreme Court to form a commission comprising of three judges to investigate the rigging charges by Imran Khan.  Imran Khan has also said in an interview that he will accept any decision by the Chief Justice Supreme court after investigating the fraud in the 2013 polls.

Nawaz Sharif said in his speech, “I request the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a three-member commission that will investigate the rigging allegations and give a final decision.”

The Prime Minister has said, “The judiciary is standing on the back of the Constitution and democracy. Last year, for the first time in Pakistan, a democratically elected government completed its tenure.”

Nawaz claimed that the 2013 elections were largely considered free, fair and transparent by the local and international bodies.

“No international or local body said that these elections were rigged or that the losers were the real winners,” said the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister said that elections in 2018 will be conducted according to the recommendations of the parliamentary committee formed to recommend improvements in the electoral process.

” I am hopeful that this committee will achieve its goal in good time and will be a milestone in our country’s history,” Nawaz Sharif said.

Imran Khan has also indicated his willingness to accept the decision of Supreme Court Chief Justice after the rigging charges are investigated.
