It is reported that a session court judge on Saturday August 16, 2014 has ordered police to register First Information Report (FIR) against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sahrif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and 19 others for allegedly killing of 11 Pakistan Awami Tehreek  (PAT) workers during violence in Model Town.

The session court judge had ordered the Station House Officer (SHO) Faisal Town to immediately register FIR against the 21 persons nominated by PAT including Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, the Punjab Inspector-General and the CCPO Lahore.

Judge ruled in his order that SHO present the report to the court after registering case against the accused persons.

PAT had filed a petition in the court to instruct police to register a murder case against the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and others after violent clashes between the PAT workers and police on June 17, 2014 outside the residence of Dr. Tahirul Qadri.

In the tragic incident, at least 11 people including PAT workers were killed and 100 injured as the result of police firing on the protesters who were resisting removal of security barriers outside the residence of PAT leader.

A judicial commission formed to investigate the tragedy has submitted its report to the Punjab government, however, it is not made public yet. The sources say that commission has put the blame of the tragedy on police.
