Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has issued a statement on September 1, 2014 clarifying media reports suggesting Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif had asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign during their meeting.

The ISPR statement said that news of Army Chief asking PM to resign or go on leaves are baseless.

General Raheel Sharif and Nawaz Sharif had met earlier today in Islamabad. COAS briefed the Prime Minister about the decision of the core commanders conference regarding the political situation in the country.

Some of the local television channels reported that COAS had suggested PM to resign due to the violent protests in the Pakistan capital Islamabad against the government.
