PTI’s Plan C – Karachi Shut Down in Progress
Friday, December 12th, 2014 10:07:29 by Hunain NaseerFollowing Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Chariman, Imran Khan’s call for a complete shutdown of the country city by city, now Karachi is where PTI workers are gathered in an attempt to force the current government to meet their demands.
Earlier we witnessed a similar shutdown in Faisalabad which led to severe clashes between workers of PTI and PML-N and resulted in one dead and several injured. The government of Sindh has stated that it will not allow PTI to call for a strike and will take required measures to prevent any shutdown.
Senior PTI leader Arif Alvi tweeted on Friday morning to announce the blockage and requested the people of Karachi to join them. It appears now that people are gathering as the protest picks up.

PTI workers had already started blocking major roads in the city ahead of protests and some of the roads include Shahrah-e-Faisal and National Highway. Petrol stations are closed throughout the city and there isn’t a lot of traffic on the roads either.
The Karachi shutdown was initiated on Thursday night by party workers who had earlier been distributing pamphlets with information about the planned protests.
The party plans to protest at several different spots throughout the city, causing major blockages, shutdown of markets and roads and registering their protest against the alleged rigging in the 2013 elections.
