Iran Takes Issue With Pak Media Over Their Coverage Of Indian Spy Saga

Abbas Badrifar, a spokesperson for the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad criticized the Pakistani media for what he called” “undignified and offensive remarks” against Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, regarding the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

He blamed elements in the Pak media who he claimed to have subversive motivations regarding the strengthening of relations between the two Muslim neighbor countries.

Mr. Badrifar, did not specify exactly which media reports he was referring to but he went on to add that the elements involved were against the agreements made during the fruitful visit of Iranian President Rouhani to Pakistan.

He went on to add that the Iranian border with Pakistan had always demonstrated the friendly relations between the two countries.

Mr. Badrifar statements come in the wake of the arrest of Kulbhushan Jadhav on March 25, who claimed to be an Indian intelligence asset working for the Indian intelligence organisation RAW.

Since his arrest, Jadhav’s interrogation revealed that he is a high ranking Naval expert under active duty and due to retire in 2022. He said he had been working for RAW since 2002 and had been instrumental in subservive activities in the Karachi and Balochistan area since.

As part of his cover, he is an Iranian businessman and was given the necessary documents to support multiple fake identities.

The Indian government in response to Jadhav’s confessions denied all claims that he was acting under directions from RAW and accused Pakistani officials of “tutoring”.

Furthermore, they claim to have been denied access to Jadhav which is against international practice as an Indian citizen under the custody of law enforcement in a foreign country.
