Details have started emerging after the bomb attack on a Chinese national in Karachi and it has been learnt that a group called Sindhu Desh Liberation Army (SDLA) is behind this attack.

It was also found out that the intelligence agencies had already warned the provincial authorities that a particular Sindhi separatist group might target Chinese nationals working on the developmental projects in the province. Despite these warnings, the attack could not be stopped.

“A few months ago, intelligence agencies had informed the Sindh home department that the Sindhu Desh Liberation Army was planning to attack Chinese nationals working on power projects and other development schemes in the province,” a Karachi-based intelligence officer told a news channel.

It has been learnt that the SDLA is an offshoot of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), which is a Sindhi nationalist party which is headed by Shafi Muhammad Burfat. Some of the members of SDLA are the ones who broke away from various factions of the Jeay Sindh Tehreek, which was founded by Sindhi nationalist leader GM Syed.

The reason the SDLA broke away from its mother group was that the group believes in using violence and guerilla warfare to gets its message across. Due to this, the SDLA was banned by the government for its involvement in terrorist activities.

A bomb planted along the green belt of Gulshan-e-Hadeed in Karachi, went off yesterday as a vehicle carrying a Chinese engineer went past it. Due to the explosion, the driver and the Chinese engineer got injured, but thankfully nothing serious was reported.
