Following Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s positive open heart surgery in London, doctors voiced their delight and contentment over the PM’s health improvement. Maryam Nawaz tweeted the PM’s progress on her personal handle on Wednesday.

According to the tweets, surgeons visited him Wednesday morning and removed two drain tubes from his chest.

She said “I spoke to my father today. His throat was sore from the tubes but I could make out he was recovering fast,”

He is expected to be moved to a room on Thursday, Maryam added.

Prime Minister Nawaz’s surgery precedes his government’s presentation of its annual budget on Friday. It is also under pressure following allegations of corruption in relation to the Panama Papers.

The 66-year-old Prime Minister ran for two terms in the 1990s before being overthrown in a military coup in 1999. After being exiled for years, he returned to Pakistan in 2007 and headed his party, granting them victory in the 2013 election.

He has had multiple visits to London for medical treatment with his brother, Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab and other family members.
