Artists from Pakistan have been going to India for the past few years to showcase their talent across the border. However, ever since the Uri attack took place, these artists have been receiving a lot of threats and now the repercussions have started showing in the form of cancelled concerts.

According to the latest reports, Atif Aslam and Shafqat Amanat Ali’s concerts have been cancelled due to these threats. Amanat Ali was set to perform on September 30th, whereas Aslam’s concert was scheduled for October 15th. Both the concerts were cancelled when various Indian nationalist parties, issued threats to the organizers of the concerts.

“We decided to cancel the concert of Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali. We took this decision in the aftermath of Uri attacks,” Radio Mirchi Group Manager (Sales) Srinivas said.

According to Srinivas, the decision to cancel the concert was taken before the nationalist parties issued their threats. “The concert was cancelled on September 20th, much before the saffron parties raised the issue, demanding cancellation of the event. In fact, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad raised the issue recently, a few days back,” he said.

In the same way, Atif Aslam’s concert was also cancelled after organizers were ‘advised’ by the Gurgaon administration to ‘defer’ the concert. The advice was extended after member of Hindu group Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Kranti Dal met with Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner and asked him to cancel the event.

The letter handed to the Deputy Commissioner read: “If the event takes place, and any incident happens because of it, the district administration will be responsible”.

After the Uri attacks which claimed the lives of 18 Indian soldiers, tensions between the neighboring countries are at an all-time high. India claims that Pakistan planned these attacks, however, these claims are denied by the Pakistani government.
