Crackdown against PTI supporters not to deter them from holding Nov 2 rally

It appears that the government will try it’s level best from PTI supporters holding the Capital city hostage on Nov 2, as a major crackdown against PTI workers is underway in the twin cities.

Law enforcement agencies have been arresting PTI supporters on the pretext of them not adhering to the Section 144 which has been imposed by the government for the next two months. According to the imposed regulation, four or more people cannot gather in public.

Dozens of PTI workers, including women, have been detained by the police since the time Section 144 was imposed. Even Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala has been surrounded by police and law enforcement officials and they are keeping a check on who is entering and leaving the premises.

“The whole area is under surveillance of law enforcement agencies, while deployment of law enforcers is building up in front of the residence of Chairman Imran Khan,” said Qureshi, who is present in Bani Gala along with top leaders of PTI, including Jahangir Tareen, Asad Umar. “Nobody is allowed in or out.”

Meanwhile government officials have maintained that the reason Frontier Constabulary personnel have been deployed at Bani Gala, is for Khan’s own protection. “If the PTI leaders respect the law, the law enforcers will provide them security – but if they break the law, they will be arrested,” PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry was quoted as saying by a local TV channel.

Sheikh Rashid, the government’s most vocal critic, has also not been spared as his famed residence, Lal Haveli, was also sealed by the officials. Rashid has planned to stage a rally today at his residence, where Imran Khan is also supposed to show up.

Despite these hindrances by the government, PTI still plans on holding the scheduled rally on November 2 in the city of Islamabad.
