The French police have arrested 17 people who are believed to be the thieves who robbed famous celebrity Kim Kardashian in Paris last year. Raids were conducted in different parts of Paris and South of France, as a result of which 17 people were arrested.
Just last year, reality star and social media sensation Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris at gunpoint, while she was there for a show with her family. Kardashian was so traumatized by the robbery that she stopped posting on social media and returned after months of hiatus.
According to police reports, Kardashian was tied up and robbed of jewelry worth around nine million euros in October. After the incident was reported to the police, they collected DNA samples from the crime scene which eventually helped in locating and arresting the suspects.
“One of the DNA samples matched an individual known to police for robbery and criminal offences, who is considered a major thug,” a source told reporters.
The oldest suspect being held is a 72-year-old man who was arrested from Grasse, which is located in the south of France. The youngest suspect is in their 20s and three women were also arrested.
“Almost everyone (arrested) is known for organised crime,” a source privy to the case said.
The police also reported that the criminals involved in the robbery are part of a group which stretches to Antwerp in Belgium, which is one of the global centers of the diamond industry.
Initially it was thought that Kardashian will not mention the robbery on her famous TV show “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, but latest teasers from the show reveal that she is mentioning the ordeal to her sister.
