For years, David Beckham has been hailed as Britain’s Golden Boy! With an exceptional career in football, his philanthropic endeavors and a sparkly clean reputation as a loving husband and a doting father, one could never expect Beckham to have a character flaw.

However, a recent episode of leaked emails has tarnished the British cultural icon’s reputation and now people are not so sure of their role model anymore.

According to the details of the incident, a series of expletive-laden emails written by Beckham to his PR teams have been leaked online. The emails were allegedly written by the football star when he was denied being given the knighthood by the Queen.

In the emails, Beckham reportedly swore to his PR team after he was told that he would not be made ‘Sir David’ by Queen Elizabeth II because of concerns about his tax affairs. The emails were reportedly leaked by the Football Leaks website and are now available online.

However, Beckham’s team maintains that these emails were ‘hacked and doctored’ to give a ‘deliberately inaccurate picture’. Despite the denial by Beckham’s spokesman, not many people are believing his side of the story.

On Monday, a column in UK’s Daily Mail spoke of the ‘Shame of Saint Becks’ and termed the football star as “a foul-mouthed, determined egotist” who had used charity work as part of an “increasingly desperate” bid for a knighthood.

It was also reported that Beckham refused to put his own money into his humanitarian 7 Fund and tried to obtain reimbursement from the UN children’s agency UNICEF for expenses incurred by his sponsors.

So far Beckham has not responded to these allegations personally. However, he was recently pictured cradling his five-year-old daughter Harper on his son’s Instagram account.
