Just a few months after the torture case of a child-maid named Tayyaba working at a judge’s house in Islamabad, made headlines, another one has emerged from the same city.

An 11-year-old maid was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Monday, and several torture marks were found on her body. According to reports, the maid was working at a house in E-11 sector of Islamabad, and her employers would regularly beat her.

“The board found around a dozen wounds of different types, which were not of the same age, on the body of the girl. This showed the girl faced torture for a long time,” Pims Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Akram said, adding a report would be handed over to the police within 48 hours.

The maid, whose identity has not been revealed, belonged from Rahim Yar Khan and she had been working for her employers for a long time. On Tuesday, the girl was produced in the court of an Assistant Commissioner (AC) where she recorded her statement saying that the family for whom she worked, would regularly beat torture her.

The inmates of the household, including a woman and her son, not only tortured the maid but also cut her hair forcefully.

The police raided the house and retrieved the maid on the complaint of a neighbor. The girl was shifted to Pims for medical treatment on March 17.

When the case was highlighted in the media, the Pims management decided to form a six-member medical board to examine the girl again and prepare a report which will be submitted to the relevant authorities soon.
