Gunman opens fire at pool party killing one, injuring others in San Diego

A man killed another person and injured a few others at a pool party happening at an apartment complex in San Diego. According to reports, the man was holding a gun in one hand and a bottle of beer in another.

The incident took place on Monday during a birthday celebrations in the complex in San Diego’s University City section. According to eye witnesses, the party was in full swing and people were enjoying when all of a sudden, the man casually appeared and opened fire on the party-attendees.

One resident, who identified himself as John, told KFMB-TV he saw the gunman “sitting, drinking a beer in one hand with a gun out in the other” in the pool area. He said he and his wife saw “three people laying on the ground shot”, and one wounded victim trying to crawl to another to give assistance.

The police immediately appeared at the crime scene and when they confronted the suspect, he pointed his gun at the officers. As soon as that happened, the police officers opened fire at him and he was killed at the scene.

San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman held a press conference in which she gave details of the horrific incident. The identity of the gunman was not revealed and neither was light shed on the motive of the shooting.

According to her, the incident took place at 6 PM local time and eight people were injured during the shooting. Some of the victims were rushed to the hospital in cars even before the paramedics arrived at the scene.

It is being said that the suspect was a resident of the same apartment complex in which the shooting took place. However, little else was shared about the entire incident.
