President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Russian probe, according to the latest media reports.
Russia has been accused of helping Trump to become the president of the United States, but these claims have been refuted by Trump and Russia, both. Kushner, who is also a senior White House advisor, is being investigated because of his meetings in December and other possible interactions with the Russian ambassador and a banker from Moscow. This report was published in the Washington Post and it cited people familiar with the investigation as the sources.
So far, Kushner is the only current White House official, who is known to be considered a key person in the probe, according to the report. Other people are also being investigated but their identities have not been revealed yet.
It was also reported that the FBI’s interest in Kushner does not mean that investigator suspect him of a crime or intent to charge him with any offense. So far, it is also not known whether Kushner has received any requests from the FBI for any sort of records.
Kushner’s lawyer maintains that her client will cooperate with the investigation and provide any information which is required of him.
The FBI, several congressional committees and a special counsel appointed by the Justice Department are probing allegation of meddling by Russia in the 2016 US elections and possible ties between Trump’s presidential campaign. Even though Russia has denied colluding with the current party, all the leads are pointing towards something else.
