The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice of the Multan ‘revenge rape’ case which has made headlines over the past few days. The CJP directed the Punjab inspector general of police to submit a report in this regard and bring all the accused to justice.

According to the details of the incident provided, the event took place in Multan’s Muzaffarabad area where members of a panchayat ordered the horrific punishment for the rape case.

It was stated in the First Information Report (FIR) that a man had complained to the panchayat that his 12-year-old sister had been raped by his cousin in a field where he was cutting grass. As a punishment, the panchayat members ordered that the suspect’s sister be raped by the brother of the victim.
