Tehmina Durrani is not one to mince her words and she is considered an outspoken person in the Sharif family. Being the wife of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif, she jumped to her husband’s defense, saying that Nawaz Sharif should not have burdened the responsibility of protecting and assisting his own party’s rally.

The ousted prime minister, Nawaz Sharif decided to hold a rally from Islamabad to Lahore to show the party’s might to the people. The responsibility of protecting the rally and also ensuring that ample number of people show up, has been entrusted on the younger Sharif.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Durrani said that it was very heartless of the former PM to put so much pressure on the Punjab Chief Minister.

“If I were to advise Mian Nawaz Sharif Sb, I would have requested him to address the nation instead of putting a most loyal brother – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif – in such a contradictory position. The CM Punjab should have been spared the responsibility of both protecting and assisting his own party rally. It is very callous to put him in this position,” she tweeted.

Negating the notion that there is rift within the family, Durrani said that there is none and she is just used to speaking her mind. “My past proves I speak ‘freedom’. CM Shahbaz responsible to save ‘the day’ is a ruthless and uncaring demand on him (by Nawaz Sharif),” she tweeted.

The rally started yesterday and the entire PML-N leadership embarked on the journey to Lahore from Islamabad today. It is expected to take three days for the group to reach Lahore.
