Youth tortured to death in Lodhran

A 22-year-old young man who was serving as a teaching in district Lodhran, was tortured to death by seven suspects, over unknown reasons. The police have arrested one suspect and have registered a case against seven others.

According to the details provided by the victim’s mother in a complaint filed by her at the police station, she said that her son, Muhammad Iqbal, was a teacher in a private school and apparently had no enemies. She said that on October 7, he received a call on his cellphone and went out to meet someone.

She said that after he did not return for a few hours, she and her husband got concerned and went out to search for him. After trying for a few hours, they eventually found him lying in an unconscious state in one of the streets outside their house.

They immediately brought him home and when he regained consciousness, he told them that accused Tasawar Ali, Farooq Ahmed, Jamil Ahmed, Shakil Ahmed and three others abducted him and took him to an undisclosed location. He added the culprits subjected him to inhumane torture and burnt his body with hot iron rods.

Iqbal told his mother that he managed to escape from his abductors’ captivity but due to his condition, he could not reach home and fell unconscious on the street. She told the police that they took him to a local hospital for treatment but he could not sustain his injuries and eventually passed away.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested an accused involved in the barbaric act and was conducting raids to arrest others nominated in the FIR.
