Mahira Khan finally breaks silence on picture controversy with Ranbir Kapoor

Pakistan’s darling and leading actress Mahira Khan was shrouded with controversy after her pictures with Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor made rounds on the internet. In those pictures, the two can be seen smoking together outside a hotel in New York City, leading everyone to speculations.

After weeks of remaining mum about the issue, the actress finally shared her thoughts on the matter.

Speaking to the a local newspaper at the trailer launch of her upcoming film, Mahira asserted, “I am a very careful person otherwise. People ask me why I do not do this in films and it’s simply because I do not want to. Why should I do anything to show the world?” she said.

About meeting Ranbir she said, “It is my personal life and it is very normal for a boy and girl to hang out.” However, she said she has learned from the incident. “Nowadays, the media is not only present at events but everywhere. So, I have learnt from it (the incident),” she said.

Soon after the pictures went viral, the public got divided into two camps; one criticizing her and the other supporting her. A lot of people criticized the actress for wearing indecent clothing, smoking and hanging out with an Indian actor.

On the other hand, her supporters condemned the people who had subjected her to such critique and asked why Ranbir Kapoor wasn’t afforded the same treatment.

Meanwhile Ranbir Kapoor himself came to Mahira’s defense and said the following about her;

“I’ve gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months.”
“She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful God-gifted lives. Peace and love. PS: Both smoking and hate are injurious to health,” said the Tamasha actor.
