Two Indian school girls asked to strip over Rs 70 theft

Two school girls were allegedly forced by their female teacher to strip naked after another one of their classmates accused one of the girls of stealing Rs70.
The incident took place at a school in Damoh district of India’s Madhya Pradesh and since then it has made headlines for the teacher’s lewd behavior.
According to one of the accused girls, she and her friend were forced to take off their clothes when she refused to admit that she had committed the ‘theft’.
“My classmate lost her money. [The] teacher checked my bag and threatened me to confess. When I refused, she forced me and my friend to undress,” the girl said.
The girl further said that her teacher also threatened to bring a ‘tantrik’ (mystic) to find the money if she did not confess.
The money was not found even after the girls were stripped.
Once the school ended, the girls went home and told their parents about the incident who took up the matter with the school’s higher authorities.
District education officer PP Singh said after the incident came to his knowledge, he had issued a show cause notice to the teacher.
“Appropriate action would be taken if the charges are found to be true. No one has the right to force anyone to strip,” he added.
Meanwhile the teacher maintained that the incident took place while the rest of the case was out on the school ground for karate practice.
“The girl whose money had been stolen came to me and told me about the theft and I asked her to search the bags of the two girls, but she went to the class and told them to strip, which I had never authorised,” she added.
I have been working for 17 years. Why will I do such a thing?”
Authorities are investigating the incident and have vowed to take appropriate action.
