Deepika, Bhansali receive threats over Padmavati release

Things are getting serious as the Padmavati release date draws closer—extremists are threatening the makers of the movie with dire consequences if it is released. According to the details provided, Hindu extremists are saying that facts have been twisted in the movie, due to which they are enraged.

It has been learnt that the film’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the lead actress Deepika Padukone, have received direct death threats. An extremist Hindu organization has announced bounty for the heads of Bhansali and Padukone.

After these threats were made public, many celebrities have come out in support of Padukone and Bhansali. Recently, some of the stars who have expressed their open support to the actress are Shah Rukh and Amir Khan.

“The moment Aamir read the news, he immediately called up Deepika to check on her. He was extremely concerned about her. Aamir and Deepika had a long conversation about the whole scenario and he assured her of being there for her if needed. Deepika’s other co-stars including Shah Rukh Khan also called Deepika. Everyone has expressed concern. Deepika, on the other hand, is maintaining an extremely strong stand,” Indian news site News18 quoted a source as saying.

A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Rs100 million head money for the two on Monday.

Suraj Pal Amu also threatened Ranveer Singh, who plays a villain in the film, that he will break his legs for working in the movie.

Earlier this month, a Hindu group vandalized a theater for showing the movie’s trailer.

Due to these reasons, the movie’s release date has also been postponed indefinitely from December 1.
