The former Interior Minister of Pakistan, Chandhry Nisar Ali Khan is not one to mince his words. Therefore when the government’s attempts at curtailing the Faizabad protest failed and the current Interior Minister offered poor explanation, Nisar lambasted him with his strong words.

On Sunday, Nisar offered advice to Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to avoid making fictitious statements to cover up his incompetence.

“Is he not the same person who said could clear the sit-in within three hours and now he is trying to put the blame of the entire operation on the honourable court,” he said.

Protestors belonging to Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool held the capital under their siege for the past three weeks. Ultimately when the government ordered the police to disperse the protestors, violent clashes erupted between them and the police.

The incident resulted in the heavy loss of property and lives creating headlines the world over. Chaudhry Nisar’s house was also vandalized in the process due to which the senior Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader became furious.

The police also showed substandard performance when it came to controlling the crowd as it was not authorized to use any kind of force. Eventually, the army came to help and helped in coming to an agreement between the government and the group.

Cleric Khadim Hussain Rizvi called off the protest on Monday as the government fulfilled the group’s key demands and made Law Minister Zahid Hamid resign.

After almost three weeks of chaotic conditions, life started coming back to normalcy in the Twin Cities on Tuesday.
