Incidents like the one which recently took place in Kasur send shivers down one’s spine, showing how brutal humanity can be at times. An eight-year-old girl was raped and killed in Kasur before being dumped in trash.

The girl, identified as Zainab, had gone missing from her house five days ago and search had been underway to find her whereabouts. Sadly, she could not be found alive and her remains were found dumped in a garbage yard.

It has been learnt that the girl’s parents had gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, and she was under the care of her relatives. She was apparently picked up from in front of her house and despite obtaining the CCTV footage of the kidnappers, the police have still not been able to catch them.

The family and community of the area took to the streets after this brutal incident on Wednesday morning and forced the closure of the market. Police were able to disperse the crowds after assuring them that justice would be served.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and has ordered for the prompt arrest of the suspects. He further added that he would be personally supervising the case.

“Justice should be served to the affected family at all cost. The killers of the innocent girl won’t be able to escape,” he said.

Meanwhile Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the incident and put its blame on the Sharif brothers.

“Ten incidents of minors’ rape and murders had been reported in Kasur and eleven in Sheikhupura alone last year. It seems some parts of Punjab have been turned into hell for the children, especially the girls but Sharif brothers appear to have abandoned their duty as rulers,” the PPP Chairman said in a statement issued today.
