Incidents of sexual abuse of young boys emerge in Lahore

Ever since the rape and murder case of seven-year-old girl from Kasur hit the news, people have been demanding strict punishments for the perpetrators of such crimes. There have been increased awareness among the public to also report such incidents to the police.

According to the latest reports, two cases of sexual abuse of young boys surfaced in Lahore on Monday. Suspects in both the incidents have been arrested by the police.

In the first incident, a five-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by a neighbor. According to the details provided by the boy’s father, Muhammad Ashfaq, his son was playing outside their home in Mangi Mandi, when a man, identified as Umar, took the boy to the field.

Umar was the boy’s neighbor, and he was acquainted to him, due to which the young boy easily was lured by him. When Ashfaq’s son did not return home, the family became concerned and started searching for him. Witnesses told the family that they had seen the young boy going with the suspect towards a field.

“Just as we reached near sugarcane fields, we heard the screams of our child. We saw the suspect had removed the clothes of my son and was sexually assaulting him. We caught him immediately and handed him over to the police.” The police arrested the suspect and registered an FIR against him.

The other incident took place in Sabzazar in which the family of a 12-year-old boy alleged that he had gone to buy milk from a nearby shop, where the shopkeeper molested him. According to the boy’s uncle, the owner of the shop, Imran, a resident of Mandi Usmanwala Kasur, tried to molest his nephew.

The family registered an FIR against the suspect and he was taken into custody. Meanwhile a witness reported that the family had manipulated the case. “The suspect had only touched the boy’s face gently and treated him nicely and the family has registered an FIR against him.” On the other hand, Investigation Officer Imtiaz Ahmad said that they have arrested the suspect and have conducted his and the victim’s medical examination. The suspect will be presented before the court for further investigation, he added.
