A bizarre video of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker groping a young girl while addressing a crowd in Karachi has gone viral. The video has caused a social media outrage with a number of viewers linking it to a recent series of child abuse cases.
The video was put on social media pages on Wednesday and since then it has been shared and viewed millions of times. The person in the video has been identified as Nisar Muhammad, who is a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights.
Ironically, the senator can be clearly violating the girl’s rights by groping her while addressing a crowd at Sohrab Goth, which had gathered there against the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud.
It is not clear why the little girl is standing with Nisar, neither is her relationship to the senator apparent. However, even she can be seen being uncomfortable when he repeatedly gropes her, stroking her face and shoulders while addressing the gathering.
Surprisingly neither the senate delegation not the members of the crowd object to his bizarre actions or try to stop him.
The MPAs met organisers of the jirga where they were joined by Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and Jamaat-e-Islami emir Sirajul Haq.
Many people are questioning the Senator’s state of mind or whether he was under the influence of alcohol because such a behavior is not normal.
Ever since seven-year-old Zainab’s body was found from Kasur, the public has really spoken out against child abuse. The government is under tremendous pressure to prosecute her murderer and introduce reforms which protect children from such criminals.
