Sindh Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, wife found dead under mysterious circumstances

The Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and his wife, Fariha Razaque, were found dead in their Karachi home on Wednesday.

The bodies of the deceased were found in a room by the servants of the house while the police and family were informed later of this tragic incident. Bijarani was found lying on a sofa while his wife was on the floor bleeding from the head. Both of them had gunshot wounds in their bodies. Police also reported that they recovered a 30-bore pistol and four bullet casings from the room.

“We have found pistol near Bijarani sahib and one bullet was stuck in it,” SSP Raja Umder Khitab told reporters. However, he added that it would be premature to say whether it was a suicide incident or someone had killed them.

All the domestic help at the Bijarani house has been taken into custody by the police for interrogation. The employees include a cook, gunman and driver.

According to the details provided by the employees, they heard gunshots at 6 am from their employers’ room. “Since, we were not allowed to go inside the room, we could not dare to ask about firing,” one of his employees said.

Later, when they took the breakfast and knocked at the door, there was no response. “Begum Sahiba had an appointment with doctor at 12 pm. We again went to see her. On receiving no response we broke the door and found them dead,” he said.

Later, they informed the police and Bijarani’s friends and family members.

According to the servants, Bijarani and his wife had lately been having a series of heated arguments. They even separated for a while but had reconciled after the family’s interference.

Fariha was Bijarani’s second wife and they did not have any children together. They tied the knot in 2008 after being part of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities. An autopsy will be conducted on it after which a report will be presented to the police.
