The former Interior Minister Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan met with Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town on Lahore today.
The meeting was held to address the concerns which the former interior minister is having regarding the party’s leadership and direction. It was learnt that Nisar shared all his reservations with Shehbaz and the two also discussed the current political scenario and domestic issues being faced by the country.
Nisar has been disillusioned with his party’s leadership and has aired his grievances several times on television. Sources reveal that during the meeting, Shehbaz guaranteed to address Nisar’s concerns regarding the party.
In a recent interview, Nisar made it clear that he wants to continue working for PML-N, as long as the party is not made a housemaid.
In an interview with a local newspaper on Saturday, Nisar expressed the fear that Shehbaz would not be given space and mandate to work.
“Misunderstandings were being spread about the stay of Shehbaz Sharif in London. If he is given the mandate to truly work as the president of the party, there may be many improvements,” he was quoted as saying in the interview.
Meanwhile sources from the Sharif camp also agree with Nisar’s view that the ousted prime minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s narrative will ultimately prevail in the party and that Shehbaz Sharif will merely be handling the routine affairs.
