Meesha Shafi ready to test her skills in Bollywood

A Pakistani model and singer, Meesha Shafi now has become a part of Bollywood industry. The Indian producer/director Mira Nair’s has signed Shafi in her upcoming movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

The story is based on the Pakistani author, Mohsin Hamid’s bestselling novel by the same name. Hamid novel was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize and also received several awards. In her upcoming movie, she will also be working with Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Hudson, Om Puri, Riz Ahmed and Shabana Azmi.

Shafi told the media about her communication with Nair and her plans for the movie. She further explained “I went in for a screen test sometime very early last year when Mira Nair was in town for casting purposes. There was no reading, no script, and it was very informal. At the time I didn’t know what I was being considered for. I guess the purpose was a screen test since a camera was there.”

Mira also made films like Monsoon Wedding (2001), Hysterical Blindness (2002) and Vanity Fair (2004).

Shafi, added that after meeting Mira, she was very happy and then she received a call telling her that she was casted for the Mira’s upcoming film. On becoming the part of Mira’s new project, she was a bit nervous because it is going to be her first exposure on the big screen.

The singer-actress further told that working with the legendary co-stars is somewhat scary for her but at the same time it would be a good opportunity for her to learn from their experience

Meesha is also working in other projects and she will be playing a part in Bilal Lashari’s Waar, a loyal movie and film makers are planning for an international release. She explained, ‘In Waar’  “I play an unorthodox character which is a big departure from how women are usually projected in Pakistani cinema. Bilal Lashari is fantastic to work with and working with him is refreshing to say the least.”

She is back in the studio for working in her new album. Let see, how far she will be successful in increasing her fans in the film Industry.
