Our Solution to Global Power Crisis is Outer Space Solar Energy

Energy crisis is not only restricted to our country, Pakistan. It had been foreseen by many other countries too, which is why scientists today are busy in looking for alternate energy solutions.

However, the crisis, which was in speculation for more than 30 years’, took its toll in our Pakistan. We have experienced every phase of the crisis, which started off with a bearable load shedding schedule of 1 to 2 hours a day and saw it reach up to 2-4
days of complete power outages.

Where some countries like ours, are busy coping up with this menace, other countries are bent on finding the solution to the problem, which can be theirs too. It’s only a matter of time.

Similarly, an international scientific group has carried out a detailed study on Solar Energy to meet the global energy needs. According to the study, the global power requirements can be met by harnessing the Solar Energy through orbiting power plants in
outer space, which will be directed to Earth, where it can be used as the Electric Energy to bridge the energy void.

This proposed project seems like the best solution to our energy needs because it is a clean energy generation alternative. Nonetheless, there is also a flip side to it, which is in simple words, Time. The project will take at least 30 years for its complete
execution.

According to the study led by John Mankins, a 25-year NASA veteran and the U.S. space agency’s former head of concepts, "It is clear that solar power delivered from space could play a tremendously important role in meeting the global need for energy during
the 21st century.”

This project needs a major economic investment to start off, which cannot be handled by government or the private sector alone. However, if both sectors combine their economic investment, only then we can benefit from mass production of Solar Energy from
outer space and its wireless transmission to Earth markets.

The proposed project is the product of scientific research academy which is headed by Madhavan Nair, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation. Since, it has released its 248-page report, it is gaining popularity amongst masses. This trend
has been developed because with this project, modern day finite fossil fuel power generation, which is injurious for our environment, can be replaced.
