Antonio Banderas’ Puss in Boots receives positive reviews

The computer-animated adventure, Puss in Boots blasted in Box Office and received very positive reviews. Directed by Chris Miller and produced by DreamWorks Animation, Puss in Boots stars Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Billy Thornton and Amy Sedaris. It
hit the big screens on October 28th, 2011 in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.

The $130 million budgeted flick is a spinoff prequel to the Shrek series and it centres on the character Puss in Boots before he met Shrek in Shrek 2 (2004). The movie follows Puss on his adventure with the tough and street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind
Humpty Dumpty to save town. Puss is up against Jack and Jill, two murderous outlaws in ownership of magical beans which are legended to lead to great fortune.

The one and half hour long movie received good and very positive reviews.

Review aggregator of Rotten Tomatoes reported that 82 percent of 94 critics gave positive reviews. The site general consensus states, “It isn’t deep or groundbreaking, but what it lacks in profundity, Puss in Boots more than makes up for with an abundance
of wit, visual sparkle, and effervescent charm.”

Jennie Punter of the Globe and Mail declared, “It’s the morally-cracked Humpty who provides the film’s emotional trajectory. Puss in Boots is a fun feline frolic — with just a little egg on its face.”

Amy Biancolli of the Houston Chronicle said, “Puss in Boots prances along on three basic truths. One, cats are funny. Two, vain Spanish cats in high-heeled musketeer boots are even funnier. Lastly, booted, vain Spanish cats voiced by a breathy Antonio Banderas
are flat-out hilarious.”

Meta Critic gave the movie 65 out of 100 score, based on 23 critics, while the site users gave a rating of 7.7, based on 73 ratings.

IMDB on the other hand gave a rating of 7 out of 10 from its 5,727 users.

The movie did great job at the Box Office as well. It grossed $135,716,472 in North American and $62,000,000 in other countries, making a worldwide total of $197,716,472.

The movie is a must watch for not only kids but their parents as well.
