Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani: Man of contradictions

The personality of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani is a combination of contradictions. One will not mind the double-standard approach he has, if was limited to his personal dealings or if this was his equipment for doing family affairs.

Unluckily, Yousaf Gilani is Pakistan premier and (so called) chief executive and his dual-speak is a matter of concern for masses.

He has uttered two different versions to serious matters of national security and institutional strength without comprehending that he is growingly a man of bipolar turmoil. His double-speak-ups about role of establishment in decision making process were
visible for everyone.

He repeatedly played the music saying that the army is pro-democracy for almost three and a half years. He, however, abruptly changed his mind, accusing the same military of being state within a state.

It was only a matter of two days he took his previous position back rejecting the impression that army is a threat to democracy.

In quite a silly remark, he defended his statement of ‘state within a state’ saying that he referred to the defence secretary. Certainly, no one will believe on his later-day wisdom and he was left with an egg of humiliation on his face.

This impression is quite wrong that he learnt lesson from that episode. One cannot get rid of old habits easily. The premier goes on the same split tongue way. In the latest gems, he rejected the impression that institutions were on different page on various
issues.

He stated that there was no clash between any institution and all is well among different units of the state. In the very next day, the entire scenario changed when he claimed that people were attempting to create third force to derail the system. Without
naming it was a clear point against the establishment.

On Wednesday, the premier, who has larger experience of dealing the matters being a prisoner in the previous regimes, spoke about the supremacy of the constitution. His words explained that matters will be resolved according to the constitution if there
is problem between establishment and the government.

Above mention quotes are a few examples of his contradictory ideas which come from the executive of the country in a span of 72 hours. Apparently, the premier believes that he can make fools the masses on daily basis by constantly changing his stances.
