Graft in PU M. Phil admissions

How a country where university admissions are granted through favouritism and nepotism can produces quality scholars and researchers who may unleash innovative and progressive ideas. Though the graft is visible in every public sector university of Pakistan
but the University of the Punjab is ‘honoured’ to be at top of the list.

Favouritism rules the roost in the arena of M. Phil and Ph. D admissions. It will not be beyond reality to say that almost 90 percents of the students in the higher disciplines are enrolled with unfair means. It is shameful to reveal but it is a sour reality
that girls form majority of the illegitimate admissions.

Our respectful professors and head of departments give undue favours to girls and, in turn, get undue favours from them. So it is a semiotic process which is in practice generally and vividly.

The corruption is not confined to the admissions only, but these favours continue throughout the academic sessions till the completions of these students’ degrees which, to me, are no more than pieces of paper. That is it.

This sleaze does immense harm to those brilliant students who are denied admissions. Despite having talent and urge, they are unable to pursue higher studies and contribute to the well-being of the nation. They cannot join private universities for want of
resources. Moreover, the education standard of the private universities is not better than that of the public sector.

As a result of the unfair admissions, pseudo scholars and fake researchers take birth. These doctors prove to be killing acids for the society instead of becoming assets. The research papers and thesis they produce—-courtesy to internet which have made
their work easy—-hold no importance and they can have no positive repercussions on the socio-economic development.

In this scenario, it will be silly to expect that Pakistan will make progress. Never ever, as long as this system goes on.

Come on my respectable teachers and administrators, shun this vice for god sake.  Sorry to say that shame on you. What are you contributing to the academic excellency. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.  You are ruining the society. You are committing a sheer
crime against humanity.
