Bollywood star, Sunjay Dutt is one of the most well known names in the Indian film industry especially when it comes to the negative roles yet the actor used to charge only Rs 5-crore for a film. However, as per the latest reports, Dutt has now jacked his price to staggering Rs 10-crore plus and the main reason behind is obviously the stupendous success of ‘Kancha Cheena’ in ‘Agneepath’.

Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’, which is a remake of the 1990 film of the same name, was released on January 26, 2012 and the film broke records at the box office by crossing Rs 125-crore mark.

Many out there are still reeling from the impact of the news but Dutt’s CEO Dharam while confirming the news justified the hike.

The CEO said ‘Kancha Cheena’ played a vital role in Agneepath’s success and the character has been appreciated by almost everyone out there. Oberoi insisted Dutt also has the rights to increase his price like other actors.

Oberoi confirmed the story, “Every actor raises his price after a big success. If Sanju has delivered the biggest hit of 2012 so far, doesn’t he deserve the hike?”

“People cheered him at the election campaigning too,” pointed out Oberoi.

One of Sunjay Dutt’s close friends commented on the news as well. He told the media that Sunjay is currently in a ‘happier space’ now, thanks to ‘Agneepath’.

“While a certain section of the audience found Agneepath extremely violent, there is a large section which has lapped up the film and Dutt’s stupendous performance,” the friend told Mumbai Mirror.

Sunjay Dutt is currently participating in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming much-anticipated venture ‘Department’, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas on May 18, 2012. Along with him, Amitabh Bachchan will also be featured in the lead role.

Well, all said and done, currently the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are charging Rs 27-crore for a film whereas Hrithik Roshan is charging Rs 20-crore. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor charges Rs 18-crore and Rs 12-crore respectively.

Keeping these facts in front, Sunjay Dutt’s demand looks fair still let’s see what response he gets from the producers.
