Manny Pacquiao: I will not stay long in boxing

The Fighting Pride of Phillipines, Manny Pacquiao, who has won eight world title is as many divisions, has recently passed on a flattering statement in which he has said that it is now only a matter of time before he walks away from the sport of boxing.

The boxing’s best Pacquiao, the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight Champion, told the media on Monday that he has been told by God in a dream to retire soon and his statement has potentially raised doubts over hopes of a dream-fight with the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather junior.

“I will not stay long in boxing because he said: ‘You have done enough. You have made yourself famous but this is harmful’,” a serious-looking Pacquiao told radio station DZMM in an interview.

The 33-year-old, who is regarded as the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, insisted that he also had the same dream earlier this year but he didn’t reveal it to anyone.

Pacquiao, who holds a fight record of winning 54 of his 59 professional fights (2 draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, further added that he believes God has given him so much fame to spread the Christian message. The pugilist remarked that he will make a major announcement on a religious note as well later this month.

“When I speak, a lot of people listen,” he said.

Currently, Pacquiao, also known as Pac-Man, is all set to defend his WBO crown against the undefeated American boxer, Timothy Bradley, on June 9 in Las Vegas. However, Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather junior is the fight which everyone out there wants to see because they are both considered as the pound-for-pound kings.

Mayweather and Pacquiao came pretty close this time but the deal was not finalised once again since Mayweather didn’t want a 50/50 split with the Filipino star. Nevertheless, let’s hope Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, fights Pacquiao before he announces his retirement.
