Arsenal slays Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium – English Premier League News

Arsene Wenger’s Gunners displayed their top class performance to outgun Aston Villa with a 3-0 score line at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Kieran Gibbs scores the opener while Theo Walcott doubled the lead in just 25 minutes from the start of the match.
The former Everton star, Mikel Arteta then fired a spectacular free kick past Shay Given in the stoppage time to muster the score.

After tumbling over the Toffees on Wednesday earlier this week, the once Invincibles, Arsenal, maintained their momentum and blasted past Alex McLeish’s side with another clean sheet.

Wenger was quoted in a post-match press conference, “I felt it was a very dynamic, fluent performance in the first half with top technical quality. It was a controlled performance in the second half, we controlled the game and managed not to concede a goal.
Our fatigue came in a bit because we gave a lot at Everton on Wednesday night to win the game. Overall I am very happy, very pleased because we managed to score goals and not concede any. We have consistency at the moment, so let’s go home and wait for the
next game.”

The home side dominated throughout the match and after just 16 minutes from the star, Gibbs netted his maiden premier league goal with the help from Villa’s keeper who showed dismal performance.

Just nine minutes later, the Red Army extended their lead to 2-0 when the local winger, Walcott, produced a decent finsh after recieving a ball from Alex Song.

Arsenal carried their dominating ways in the second half and Arteta then mustered the score line with a spectacular free-kick in the stoppage time.

The Gunners suffered an early blow as Laurent Koscielny got injured in the warm-up and Johan Djourou replaced him in the line-up. Regardless of this new set-back, Wenger’s side showed their class and maintained a clean sheet against the struggling Villa.

Arsenal will next confront QPR at the Loftus Road Stadium this weekend.
