Veena Malik’s marriage cancelled; Imagine TV shut down

The controversial queen of Pakistan, Veena Malik, was participating in the fourth season of ‘Swayamvar – Veena Ka Vivah’ in order to find her soul-mate but her marriage plans have come to a sudden halt, as the channel, Imagine TV, on which the show was being broadcasted is shutting shop.

A day before yesterday, in a sudden move, Turner Group sent the production houses, artists and employees in a state of shock by announcing its decision to cease the channel’s business operations.

Controversy’s favourite child, Veena Malik, collected almost over 71,000 entries from all over the world on the show, which was a world record yet the channel was unable to achieve the ratings.

“Imagine TV has not performed and grown as per expectations … overall the channel was unable to achieve the ratings consistency needed sustain the business and support continued investment. As a result, Turner made the carefully considered decision to cease operations of the channel,” Siddharth Jain, Managing Director- South Asia, Turner International India, said in a statement.

Veena manager told the media that the news has gone well with Veena at all and therefore she is pretty upset these days.

Veena’s manager Satish said, “Veena is currently in the UK. Though the channel did not inform us about its closure, Veena knows about it now, and she’s very upset.”

Veena Malik – ‘Veena Ka Vivah’ created a lot of hype among the audiences even before it was launched and many out there used to watch it regularly. However, Turner Group’s sudden decision has left everyone in a state of shock, including the makers of other shows.

“A lot of money is stuck now. The channel has assured that they’ll pay us for our losses, but it’ll take time for us to get over the shock,” said Shyamashis Bhattacharya of Shakuntalam Telefilms, producers of Me Aaji Aur Saheb.

Well, all said and done, the Pakistani bombshell was locking many headlines due to Swayamvar but all her plans have gone down the drain in spite of getting a huge response.
