John Abraham says Shah Rukh Khan’s detention is justified

Shah Rukh Khan, commonly known as the King of Bollywood, was detained at the New York airport last Thursday and this news brought a lot of criticism. However, John Abraham, who too got detained in 2009, reckons the detention of SRK is justified.

Abraham told the media that every country it due to the security reasons. The actor further added that even India does it and it is not easy at all for the foreigners who come in India.

“Every country does its due diligence. Getting into India for foreigners is like hell… it’s not easy. The US is also doing whatever they can to make their country safe, so it is justified. It all depends on how personally you take the issue, and Shah Rukh handled it with a lot of grace,” said the actor, who was in the Capital to promote his first production, Vicky Donor.

This was the second time SRK was detained, as he was stopped back in 2009 as well. SRK at that time said that the reason behind his detention was his ‘Muslim’ name and John also agreed with the fact.

The 39-year-old, who was recently seen in ‘Housefull 2’, while speaking on his inclusion, stated that mostly coloured people are detained by any country and to say it a racial profiling would not be wrong.

“I have been in that detention space, where the (Federal Bureau of Investigation) FBI was called in because I had Afganistan mentioned in my passport, as I had shot there for two months for my film Kabul Express. There wasn’t much hue and cry about this as I never wanted to use the incident as a media peg for the film. I was in for six hours and I was asked the strangest questions. And of course, Shah Rukh would agree that racial profiling could be a pretty much correct term for it (interrogation) because its mostly coloured people who are detained,” said John who believes the procedure has a good and a bad side to it.

Well, all said and done, U.S. officials later on apologised to Shah Rukh Khan for the detention and they also said that it was not a racial profiling at all.
