BBBoC not happy with David Haye v Dereck Chisora fight

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye and former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora are the talk of the town at this point in time because they are all set to take on each other on July 14 at the West Ham’s Upton Park. However, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) has condemned the proposed fight between the two and has threatened to remove the license of anyone involved.

The BBBoC statement read: “Any member who participates in such a promotion would bring the sport of boxing into disrepute and would wholly undermine the authority of the British Boxing Board of Control.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any member of the British Boxing Board of Control who participates in any way in such a promotion will be deemed to have terminated his/her membership of the British Boxing Board of Control and his/her licence therewith, for the reasons stated above.”

Chisora had licence withdrawn for having an ugly fight with Haye in February in Munich, Germany while he was having his post-fight press conference along with Vitali Klitschko. Nevertheless, no charges were brought against Haye since he officially walked away from the sport last October after suffering a humiliating defeat to Wladimir Klitschko.

The statement further said, “Dereck Chisora has recently had his licence withdrawn on the ground that he is not a fit and proper person to hold a boxer’s licence.

“David Haye does not hold a boxer’s licence with the British Boxing Board of Control.

“[The BBBoC] does not approve of such a promotion taking place within its jurisdiction and will not supply any of its officials to officiate at such a promotion.”

Haye versus Chisora fight is being sponsored by BoxNation, which is a TV company, in association with Sauerland Promotions. There will be two fights on the cards but Haye-Chisora will be the main event.

Well, all said and done, let’s see if this fight really happens because it will certainly make a lot of people flock in to the arena.
