Bollywood actor Aamir Khan refuses to apologise to IMA

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is hosting a popular TV programme ‘Satyamev Jayate’, in which he highlights the social issues of the society. However, since May 27, the actor is facing a lot of criticism from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) as they feel the actor has defamed the medical profession by accusing the doctors of malpractices.

IMA therefore wants an apology from the actor but the 47-year-old is no mood of apologising to the doctors because he believes he has done nothing wrong at all.

IMA warned Khan that if he is not going to apologise they will take legal actions against him. Nevertheless, when asked Aamir he said he is completely ok with it.

“I am very comfortable if they (IMA) plan to take legal action if they feel that I have done something wrong. Of course, the courts are available for them. My answer is no, I will not be apologising,” Aamir told NDTV.

“I have absolutely no intentions of apologising because I have not done anything wrong,” Aamir told IANS in an exclusive interview over phone from Mumbai.

Khan, also known as Perfectionist, insisted that he has the highest regard for the medical department but there are some black sheep who are misusing this noble profession and he has only highlighted them.

“I have not insulted the medical profession at all. I have the highest regard for the medical profession. In fact what is insulting to the medical profession is those doctors who are indulging in unethical practices. They have insulted the medical profession, not me,” he said.

Khan, in the meantime, revealed that there are many doctors who have liked his show and they have thanked him for highlighting this issue.

Well, all said and done, Aamir Khan reckons that he is trying to make a sincere effort by creating awareness among the people but let’s see how the medical community responds to his statements.
