India’s very own dancing queen, Madhuri Dixit, who is often cited by the media as one of the best actresses in the industry, feels that Bollywood has a dance style of its own and it is a combination of all dancing styles in the world.

“I think Bollywood is an amalgam of all dance styles. Bollywood has no style of its own. The style is a cliche. There are so many dance styles all over the world and we get to see them all in one song itself. So this is Bollywood’s specialty,” Madhuri Dixit told IANS in an interview.

“As soon as new styles come in, like hip-hop is becoming popular now, you see dancers amalgamating it into our own dancing. The dance forms get a Bollywood twist and it becomes a new style. So Bollywood is always incorporating not just Indian and folk, but western dances too,” she added.

The 45-year-old actress, who made her debut in 1984 with ‘Abodh’, is best known for her dance. She has many given the industry many dance hits like “Humko aaj kal hai”, “Dhak dhak”, “Ek do teen”, “Que sera sera”, “Kaahe chhed mohe” and “Aaja nachle”. In each song she has shown a different dancing style.

Madhuri walked away from the showbiz after she got married to a US-based surgeon Sriram Nene because she moved to Denver from Mumbai in order to start a family.

However, the diva has returned to the Hindi cinema once again. She is also playing a judge’s role on a reality dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5’ and her fans are really happy to see her as fit as she was before.

Therefore, during the interview, when Madhuri was asked about her fitness secret as well.

“It’s just the discipline. You have to be disciplined. I dance regularly and exercise. One has to be fit. One thing good is that I have no bad habits! So for me it’s a healthy lifestyle all the way,” she said.
