Bob Arum says Manny Pacquiao v Floyd Mayweather is possible in 2013

Top Rank chief executive, Bob Arum, has insisted that a mega-fight between the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather junior may happen next year.

Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, recently had an interview with Boxingscene.com, in which he said he doesn’t think Mayweather will be ready to fight the Filipino star this year since he is serving an 87-day jail sentence.

Pacquiao, also known as Pac-Man, recently lost his battle against the unbeaten American pugilist, Timothy Bradley, in a fight which ended up in a storm of controversy.

Many out there believe it was Pacquiao who dominated the fight. Perhaps this is a reason why Arum feels a rematch with Bradley won’t sell. Therefore, he is looking forward to set up a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, which according to him will happen on November 10.

“Pacquiao will have another fight this year [November 10] and then look forward to maybe two fights with Mayweather next year,” Arum told boxingscene.com.

“I don’t think Mayweather will be prepared to fight this year, because it looks like he will be in prison for at least one or two more months. So I think that if the Mayweather fight happens it would probably happen sometime next year.”

Well, all said and done, Mayweather and Pacquiao are both considered as the pound-for-pound kings and this is a reason why boxing fans desperately want to see a fight between them.

Unfortunately both fighters have not been able to make it real because every time they come close, a dispute arises between them.

Previously drug testing was the main issue between the two but currently the most significant stumbling block in front of their fight is the issue of how to distribute the pay-per-view cash.

The undefeated American legend, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 43 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, thinks he is the biggest draw in the sport as a result to which he wants to take home the entirety of pay-per-view cash.

Pacquiao on the other hand is unwilling to agree with the American. Still let’s see if a fight between these two boxing’s best gets real.
